Adding payment methods - legal name different from profile name

I am in the process of legally changing my name, but cannot yet complete the process due to my county's residency requirements. I opened my Upwork account under my assumed name, but could not add any bank accounts because they are all under my legal name.

I changed the name on my profile, which is now under review, but I would prefer not to have to do that. I have filed my assumed name as a fictitious business name with the state. Can I keep this name on my profile if I submit that documentation?

Hi Deleen,

You can update your name by going to Settings and using the edit button. If your name variation is not acceptable, our agent will advise you directly about mismatch on your documents and suggest editing your Upwork profile name to match your legal name.
