Adding to portfolio without building specialized profile

I ask because it doesn't seem like i can add new portfolio pieces to my profile without doing creating a specialized profile. But, since i'm specifically marketing myself as a generalist/jack-of-all-trades, i don't think it would be wise to do that. Is there any way around this (i.e., when i hit the "+" button, it immediately pops up the "Highlight your portfolio" prompt)?

Sorry if this has been answered before, the search doesn't seem to be the greatest.

I just got this porblem today as well. There is a workaround for this that i have found though. You can simply create a new specialized profile and after that add items to the original portfolio. Later you an delete the specialized profile. Although i am not sure if it is a violation of upwork rules or not

ya, that's a nice workaround. i guess i'll wait a bit to see if anyone else has a more, um, appropriate fix, but otherwise i guess i'll be using this.

Thanks for sharing this - it works!  A bit of a pain (as I have to add my deleted profile back again after doing this),  but a good solution until they fix the issue.  All they need to do is add "General profile" from the dropdown, so you are not forced to choose a specialised profile!

Your workaround is now marked as the solution to this stupid problem?  This is dumb.
