Additional work has been offered

What do I do if an additional work has been offered?

I think I just should tell them to go through Upwork, right?

Thanks

Obviously.

Not going through Upwork would be a violation of the terms of service.

Should the client post it as another job or send me an offer directly?

re: "Should the client post it as another job or send me an offer directly?"

If you don't have an existing contract open, then the client has two options:

a) Ask you to do some work, and send you a payment using the NOW-CLOSED contract using the "Send bonus" tool. (This works well for small tasks.)

b) Create a new job post. The client can create this as a private invite-only job post, so that other freelancers won't see it. Then the client can click the "Hire" button to hire you directly to that job.

It IS possible for the client to create a PUBLIC job posting and send you a LINK to that job posting. Then you can apply to it. But if you do that, then you use up connects to apply to a job. And other freelancers will see that job posting and possibly apply to it. So it is best if the client uses a private job post.

The process of creating a private versus public job posting is the SAME, except for ONE setting the client chooses during the process of creating the job posting.

I do have an open contract.

If it's an hourly contract, just log time, if it's fixed rate, let the client create and activate a new milestone.
