Hi Everyone, I hope you are well and happy.
Later I surfed both forums on both the freelancer and client side.
At first I thought the complaints were only on the freelancer side because freelancers were charged very large fees for things that were often not needed. . .
For example, submitting a proposal for a job post whose credibility is often doubtful, or a job post abandoned by a client, or a repeated job post, which results in 0 Hired, but the freelancer just loses the "very expensive" connect.
On the client side, some complain about the policy of $10 fee for every time you hire a new freelancer (which is actually not much compared to the cost of wasted freelancers)
Boosting Profile, which makes top searches not the best candidates based on reputation or skills, but based on who is willing to pay a lot of money.
Ultimately, with this policy, many potential clients started to leave. . . and feel that Upwork is no longer a place for many talented freelancers here. . .
and with that, many great freelancers finally left because many potential clients were no longer here. . .
I know this is not the first post discussing a similar topic,
But I just hope that Upwork will review all these policies, even though I know they don't listen at all. . .
This is proven by the higher connection required for each job post, or the latest policy of need a connect to each Accept interview invitation. . .
Hopefully Upwork realizes that their graphics are currently going downhill,
maybe in terms of income they have made big profits in the past 2 years,,,,
but I hope they realize, if this method is not changed, everything will be destroyed shortly. . .
Upwork was previously a very comfortable place for all of us, both freelancers and clients,
and I hope that comfortable home can back in the future. . .
Cheers,
Rian

Some people realized that Upwork also doesn't care about clients around 6 monhts ago.
Before the initiation fee, there was 'extreme flood of fake accounts-botted proposals' that triggers quite a few complaints from clients that Upwork didn't seem to care.
but I hope they realize, if this method is not changed, everything will be destroyed shortly. . .
Upwork was previously a very comfortable place for all of us, both freelancers and clients,
and I hope that comfortable home can back in the future.
We don't know the future, but in my opinion they are not dumb that they just do a 'take everything while we can before we bail' approach, when they have over a decade of experience, and maybe the largest user base in the (freelance marketplace) business. They'd rather monetize the users while thinking of a way to maintain the numbers.
And... it works! They wouldn't go back to that "very comfortable place for all of us freelance and clients" if that means they need to go back to their years of losses.

Freelancers are unhappy. Clients are unhappy. But the shareholders... they have never been happier.
Until recently, when the stock price started declining.... and declining... and declining.
How much lower can the stock price fall? When will the shareholders say ENOUGH!? And when will UpWork leadership be held accountable for turning the platform into an untrustworthy casino where the most credible clients and freelancers are peeling away to find better alternatives?

stock price
I find it hard to read (predict) stock. Of course or I'd be a very rich man. This is Upwork's:
A: is their lowest
B: is the pandemic era where they were still in their months of losses.
C: is around a year after they started their "controversial" moves, or as someone said, "slapping the faces of their users," where I wrote in this forum, "will they surpass their previously lowest stock price soon?". But they didn't, the stock rose again, and they started to have profitable months instead.
Confusing 😁

I read your Indonesian message before it got deleted 😁
Yes, I don't know about the future, but Kaskus as an example isn't quite correct in my opinion. One reason, unlike Upwork, they started from being extremely successful (including the 'income' part for the management/founder).
Anyway, I'll just make sure that I don't depend on any of them so whatever they do will not affect me much. Except Google maybe. I don't care if Yahoo/Facebook/LinkedIn goes down, but if Google goes down then that's a problem. I have my photos from even before the Picasa era in it 😑
