I always used to give them the address to my local police department and told them my name was Hugh Jass. Hugh Jass got a lot of mail. I always wondered if the police department wondered WAT was going on.

Hi, Taylor
I'm just another FL here,
I might not have fully understood the story, but is it not okay for letting clients know your address?
I've actually been having a few guys with whom I have worked through Upwork come and visit my home office sometimes.
I mean I am okay with giving my actual address if people want to give me a visit either for work or hanging out (it's just me), but there might be more of your story?

I don't give my address to clients.
In the OP's case they wanted her address to send her a fake check in order to scam her out of a few thousand Dollars. One of the oldest, lamest scams o the Internet.

Irrespective of scams, I've shared my address with clients. One's been to my house, I've had dinner with another, and have had coffee and been to the pub with others. No harm in that at all so long as you're sensible about whom you connect with.

Oh, I see- that explains.
For me, It's just the nature of my job- either it helps with the workflow, communication, demonstration or building trust- so I'm okay with it.
