Am I being charged the wrong % by upwork?

Hi everyone!

My
earnings are just above $3,000 lifetime earnings, but I'm still being charged 20%. I don't believe any of my clients were labeled enterprise, and I'm not working through an agency. Maybe I'm missing something here? I've sent two support tickets in the last couple weeks and no one is replying, which is very frustrating.

The fee-tiers are per client, not overall. That means that with clients you haven't earned at least $500 from, it starts at 20% as per the documentation:

"As a freelancer, you’re charged a sliding fee based on your lifetime billings with each non-Enterprise client. This includes all contracts you’ve ever had with that client. Service fees are the same whether the contracts are hourly, fixed-price, or projects on Project Catalog.

  • $0-$500: 20%
  • $500.01-$10,000: 10%
  • $10,000.01 or more: 5%"
