Bank Accounts & Location

Hi all,

Is the option for payouts dependent on location? I currenty get paid in USD to my US bank account because my location is in the US. Would I have to use a European bank account if I moved to Europe, or can people living abroad still be paid to a bank account in a country other than their location? I have student loans and US credit cards that need to be paid in dollars so that's a important factor for me.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Yes and no.

Some payment withdrawal methods are not available in some locations. But Upwork has no restrictions on withdrawing money to a U.S. bank account.

No.

If you have a U.S. bank account that you withdraw money to, you are welcome to continue doing so regardless of where you are physically located.

That should be fine, I still have my UK bank account on file as well. You can't set up a bank account located in a country that is different to where you are, (EXCEPT, actually, for a US account funnily enough) but you can continue to use yours when you move, even add a new bank account from where you move to. (In Europe life becomes difficult without a local bank account)
