Based outside the EU and eligible for VAT

I've got 3 projects and the 3 of them have a VAT charge of approximately 4%. Based in the UAE, I should not be eligible for such taxation.

Upwork charges VAT for digital services provided by Upwork to freelancers who set their location in countries where Upwork is required to assess VAT. Even if a freelancer is residing in such country temporarily. Please, see this help article for more information. I'll also ask one of our support agent to reach out to you with more information.
