Beating the Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 Bank Delays

As soon as my Dec. 25 (December 24 in the US) pay became available, I wasted no time in withdrawing it via Paypal to my bank account. Paypal processed it immediately and it hit my UnionBank EON on Dec. 26 at around 6:00 pm Philippine time which is the usual schedule. The Dec. 25 holiday had no delaying effect. The key to avoid bank transfer delays is to consider time zone differences, withdrawal to bank processing times and the convenient payment/withdrawal method available. If I did an LFT, it would be not be processed on the usual night time of the same date because that time would already be the Dec. 25 holiday in the US. But with Paypal, transfer to bank account would be processed immediately (Dec. 24 in the US) and so avoiding the Dec. 25 holiday delay on both sides of the Pacific. I'll again do a Paypal withdrawal on Jan. 1 and expect it to hit my EON on Jan. 2 same time. For Philippine-based freelancers who are LFT diehards, the delay of Dec. 25 will be repeated on Jan. 1.
