Can I create two different accounts on UpWork?

Hey Guys,
I am currently working on UpWork with my graphic designing skills for a long time. During this period my brother also learned his skill which is different from my skill.
So can my brother make an account at UpWork? We have just one internet connection and 2 laptops

Will it affect my profile? Is it legal as per TOS of UpWork

Please guide me briefly, my brother wants to create his account with his name... can he do this on the same internet connection which I am using to run my profile?

No freelancer may create two different accounts on Upwork.

A freelancer uses ONE login username and ONE password to log into Upwork.

However: It IS possible to have "specialized profiles" on Upwork, within the SAME account.

For example, a freelancer may have one specialized profile for their work as a writer, and another one for their work as a graphic designer.

Furthermore, a freelancer may have one or more "company accounts" within their Upwork account. These are separate "profiles" or "aspects" of their single Upwork login account which they use to act as CLIENTS, in order to post jobs, hire and pay people on Upwork.

Your brother may indeed create an account on Upwork. That has nothing to do with you. It does not matter that you both share the same internet connection.

As long as your brother is really a different person and not an "imaginary" brother, then it is fine for him to create an Upwork account. Keep in mind that Upwork has ways to figure out if a single individual is trying to create multiple or fake accounts.

We don't want to use the word "legal" here, because Upwork is not a governmental body. We can say that it is "allowed." It is NOT against Upwork ToS.

Your answer in the thread here helped me as well. I have joined upwork few months back and I have been wanting to create two profiles which are my field of interest and expertise.

My field of expertise is Recruitment and my field of interest is Digital marketing. I have a fair knoweldge of digital marketing and a few projects under pipleline (not through upwork) and was wondering if I can create a specilised profile for digital marketing. Please suggest if this makes sense.

Hi Jehn Gail Nicole,

Please note that you can only register for only one Account that requires a unique log in. However, we offer several different Account Types. Once you register for your Account (only one per User), you can add other Account Types under the same username and password. For example, if you already have a Freelancer Account Type, you can add a Client Account Type to your account without re-registering. Having more than one Account is a violation of our TOS.

You are likely to be permanently kicked off the platform if you get caught doing that.

Hi Patricia,

Preston is correct, you can't have duplicate accounts as that's a serious violation of Upwork's Terms of Service. As a freelancer, you can go to Settings > Contact Info to create a client's profile under the same account.

Please keep in mind that each freelancer is allowed to have only one account with their full legal name listed on their profile.
Opening more than one account is a violation of our TOS. Thank you.
