Can someone please help me with my dispute

Hello everyone. I was working on a project for the past 3 months. However, the client ended the contract without paying and then asked for a refund and I had to file a dispute against him. I had been working on a fixed-price contract and I was on the first milestone which had been funded $600.

It's now 7 days since I filed the dispute. The client has not however responded to the group discussion since then. I then was never told whether the client had accepted or rejected the dispute(that is if it happens). However, yesterday(6 days since when I filed the dispute) the mediator messaged the client and me and told us to send information to support our dispute and said that we had till May 29th to send the information(Yesterday's date was 25th May).

The client had sent a message earlier yesterday before the mediator asked for information on the 'Resolve a dispute' page. This page:

I kindly wanted to enquire:

1. Does a message to this page count as a response to the dispute from the client?

2. When does the 'Lack of participation' start counting? From when the dispute was filed or from when the dispute mediator communicates?

3. The page https://www.upwork.com/legal#directcontractescrow 6.1 number 4 says 'Client and Freelancer must respond to the Notice of Escrow Dispute within 5 calendar days.' then the page https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211062068-Respond-to-an-Escrow-Dispute says 'If a dispute is filed you must respond within 5 business days or the funds held in escrow will be released to the freelancer.' Is it 5 business days or 5 calendar days?

 

I also have noticed that the Dispute Case has just changed from AWAITING to OPEN without any new activity. Is that normal?

This is the first time am in a dispute with a client and am not aware of how the whole process works. Someone kindly help me with the questions above.
