For the past few months, I have been unable to open Word documents that are downloaded from Upwork (i.e. when a client attaches a Word file to their project description or to a private message). I can download the file, but when I go to open it in Word, I get an error message saying that the file is corrupt. This has happened about 20 times, so there's no way that ALL of these files are corrupt. I've been getting around the problem by having clients send their file via soapbox or email instead, but it's not an ideal solution to have to tell them that I'm getting error messages and can't open their documents. I am using Chrome version 59.0.3071.115 on a Mac. I have tried to send this question directly to Upwork but I also get error messages when I try to submit my question!

Christine, I've been having the same problem for the past week or so, using Firefox on a PC. Did you ever get an answer to your query?

Hi Sharon,
Please check the information I shared in my post on the thread you started, regarding accessing attached files on job posts and note Christine experienced a different problem, downloading file her clients shared in Messages.

Hi Loren - I only had this problem for about a month, then it was fine again - I never did figure out what caused the problem in the first place. Sorry that I can't be of more help! You could have your client send the documents via email instead.

Loren, as I remember, the problem solved itself, perhaps thanks to a minor update from Firefox that removed an obstacle. If you are still stymied, you might want to start a thread where you give your particulars so the Community can respond directly and more precisely. They're great!
