Can't open desktop tracker

My Mac is running on 10.15 and ever since I updated my Upwork app I can no longer open it. I've searched the forum for other solutions -- like uninstalling and reinstalling, and then checking my Google connected settings -- but none of those options worked. Can someone please help me troubleshoot so I can get back to work? Thanks!

in case you're experiencing the same problem I had on windows, try disconnecting your google account and then login using password. after initial login you can connect again

As I mentioned in my original post, that didn't work/wasn't even applicable because my account was never connected to Google.
