Changing proposal from hourly to fixed with milestones

Hi! I looked at similar posts but can’t find exactly the help I need.

Most clients post a job as an hourly rate, but I always work as fixed. I also include at least 2 milestones, with a deposit up front (Milestone 1).

My clients are totally fine with this, but it’s difficult trying to explain to them how to change from hourly to fixed and add the milestones themselves.

Is there a way for me to change this before we sign the contract? Change Terms only lets me change the hourly rate. Is there a way for me to change from hourly to fixed on my side so I can make this easier for clients?

Thanks!

Yes. When the client sends you the offer, they have the option to change it to fixed price.

Hi Darin,

There is no option on the freelancer's side to change the contract type. To change the type of contract, the client will end the job and rehire the freelancer, changing the offer terms to an hourly or fixed-price contract, as appropriate.

The best way to do is at the time of initiating the contract.
