Charging Taxes

I've been notified that becasue of my growing annual income, I must start charging taxes to my clients.

I'm a Canadian freelancer, and I know that with Upwork payments are automatic.

Is there a way to add on tax percentages to my hourly jobs?

Thanks for any help!

Yes - just increase your hourly rate.

Freelancers using Upwork do not "charge taxes."

We set an hourly rate or a fixed-price quote. That is what clients are charged. That's it.

(Upwork charges clients a transaction fee, which has nothing to do with you or your taxes.)

As Virginia intimated, if you want to charge higher rates, you may charge higher rates.

But you may not add additional taxes or fees onto your invoices or anything, if that's what you're wondering about.

I feel your pain. I hit a higher tax bracket this year. I wish the IRS had a dispute button or I could just say "meh, I think I'll pay you less" and ask for a refund.
