Reminder I have been freelancing on various sites for a while (over 20 years) and even here I kept a good ratio and back on elance.
Now it's this sucking 5$ per and deader than anything.

I just saw one where someone had used 111 connects to boost the job. The client never even looked at it. They paid 8 dollars to be ignored.

This is the majority of jobs I apply to. 20-50 or 50+ proposals... and no paying candidates are engaged with.
Upwork's stock deserves the terrible performance it's been having.

Yes, it is current Upwork. Most of my proposals going to black hole. Sorry, but as-is.

Despite having a great profile, I received a paid invite to a job on Upwork. When I checked the job post, I found out that Upwork had invited more than 40 freelancers. It felt like a big scam because I had paid to boost my profile and proposals. Due to this suspicious activity on Upwork, I stopped using the platform after losing thousands of dollars. Upwork is quickly losing credibility, and I have stopped working on there. Instead, I am getting projects from other sources. I don't recommend Upwork to my clients because it seems to promote scams and solicit unqualified professionals just for money.

Today, the top 4 slots were filled with over 200 connections in just 2 minutes. The job was $3500 USD.😂

200 Connects is only $30 USD, so if $30 helps you land a $3500 job, that's great ROI in my opinion. The issue is that these jobs have a 19% hire rate in my experience....

Upwork truly has changed the world, pay to work, it's very funny how this is now acceptable in the world... People with skills now actually have to pay to deliver their skills....
I think the world is overpopulated.

It's advertising. Companies in all industries have to spend way more than $30 to attract business.

True that. This statement kind of justifies all Upwork activities tho with the boosting and all... Only thing they are missing is actual good quality clients. The clients being attracted are trying to pay as little as possible.
I had a very interesting experience of recent, lol it's funny the type of clients here. Funny stories indeed
