I worked with a 2-person partnership business in Belfast and set up systems using Pipedrive, Coupler, Zapier, and Glide.
My point of contact for this project, who was also the business partner, left the business for whatever reason.
All systems were set up in the business's name and included the PoC’s name wherever required.
Now the PoC is setting up the same business in a different name. He is asking me to hand over all the development for the work done over to the new business.
I am very clear that all the work should remain with the first business since it was set up using its details.
I have asked both the partners to come on the same page about who is doing what, and developing the same initiatives and systems for both, without sharing each other's data.
Anybody has a different PoV on this?
Both have been decent to work with so I don't have favorites. Upwork support hasn’t been very helpful and gave a canned response.

One person hired you. Do as he says. You are not hired to teach them how to do business.

As long as they pay you why does it matter? Are they both asking for the same work?

I think you are handling this correctly by getting both partners are in agreement. There needs to be a handoff meeting from the partner that is leaving or has left the company. This handoff should include what you are handing over to the new POC and your contract closed out with old POC. A new contract set up with the new POC. I have a feeling that if you continue working on the current contract and issues should arise between both partners, may turn into a messy situation.
