Client asked for my email address and sent me a zipped RAR file.

Hi

I got my first offer amd the client requested my email address. She didn't ask about my capabilities and skills. She has since sent me 3 zipped files via WeTransfer and email: [DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS].

In the chat room, it now states "CLIENT NAME is currently restricted from this conversation"

I can provide her name upon request. 

Can somebody please advise if this job is legit or if they have potentially attempted to send me a virus etc.?

This is a scam. Any files sent are probably viruses, ransomware or some other type of malware. As your posted message states, do not click the links or download the zipped files.

Upwork detected the scam/fraud and removed the client, which is why the chat room now says: "CLIENT NAME is currently restricted from this conversation."

yes, i got this client too, actually 2 clients contacted me and both of them have identical style messages. and send me the file. Is this a scam or what ? the client history just joined upwork like 2 days ago but has verified payment badge.
Please upwork team, wipe all scammer if this is a truly scam.
