Client asking for passport number on an NDA?

Is this something I should sign? A quick Google search says in the age of GDPR they shouldn't ask for more info than is neccessary. I don't know why they'd need my passport number, so any advice would be appreciated.

Give them a random number, one with the right number of digits.

Then ask them why they need the number.

 

If the answer makes sense to you, you have a decision to make.

 

Or ask a lawyer for their advice.

 

I have signed innumerable NDAs and none required that I show them any ID or give them my passport number.
