Client end contract without paying (fixed fee contract)

Hi everyone.

One of my clients end contract only paying for the first milestone. Here's the screenshot of the contract:

I thought he had put the $500 to escrow but apparently it seems he didn't.

Can someone from Upwork confirm this?

And if there's anything I can do to get my $500 because I completed the job.

Thanks,

Next time check before you hand over everything.

You can inform the client that you still own the work until he pays the full amount you agreed on. Unless he pays you can have the page taken down.

Did you add the 20% Upwork fee to the first milestone?

Never turn over work for which there is not a fully funded milestone. Upwork cannot help you collect payment for unfunded work.

Unfortunately there is nothing Upwork can do if the client didn't fund the milestone.  You, on the other hand, have a couple of choices.

1) Politely ask the client to fund and approve the milestone - If the client is a decent person and you completed the task as asked, he will oblige.

2) If the client doesn't pay, he has no right to your deliverable.  Meaning he can't use it so it is yours (put it on your portfolio, save it as an example of work completed, etc. if applicable).
