Client not responding after submission

It's been a week since I submitted the work and I've sent multiple messages to the client asking if he needs anything else done and requested him to approve. The last message he sent was 5 days ago saying he would get back by end of day. What do I do? Should I just wait patiently or file a dispute?

I have a couple of submissions like that right now and decided to just wait because I will get paid 14 days after submitting the milestone, but you could contact support and explain the situation. Filing a dispute is overkill I think and might backfire. Perhaps a moderator can explain if it's better to contact CS or simply wait.

I'm facing exactly the same problem as the OP. Wondering if it's the same client??

Avoid filing a dispute. They're toxic to your scores. Sad, but true.

So long as you're protected by the tracker (if you're doing hourly work) or escrow (if you're doing fixed price work), you're fine. The funds will be released within 14 days unless the client disputes the submission.

My escrow is well past the 14 days, with no response from client since I turned in the last deliverable.  So what's the hold up?

Hi Elizabeth,

Other members have provided great advice here already. As long as the funds are in Escrow and you submitted work and requested payment through the system, the funds will be released to you 14 days later even if the client is unresponsive. If you did the work as agreed but the client requests for funds from Escrow to be refunded to them, then you should dispute.

If it's an hourly contract, you will be paid according to the work week schedule.

Hi Valeria -- my work submissions are well past the 14 days and my escrow funds (only $30) have still not been released.  What do I do next?

  • Was the milestone fully funded?
  •  Did you hit the "submit work and request payment button" on the contract, only once, more than 14 days ago, and then not again?

Are you sure you've not been paid? There is a $ 30 contract on your profile which appears to have been paid, but of course that could be a different contract.

Fourteen days?  I don't think so!  I have one client right now who will not respond to submissions.  I've submitted for payment three times.  This has been going on since December 10th.  I don't want to file a dispute as that would kill my JSS.  So, what do I do now?  Eat it?

Every time you hit the resubmit button, the 14-day countdown resets. If you have submitted for payment and there is money in escrow to fund the milestone, then do nothing but wait. The full 14 days.

Yes. 14 days. Whether you "think so" or not.

When you use the "Submit for payment" function on the contract, the funds in escrow are released after 14 days, provided the client does not request for changes, or the freelancer does not click on "resubmit" - which starts the 14 day countdown from scratch.

There is no need for a dispute, there is nothing to dispute and a dispute, by itself, doesn't hurt the JSS.

You stay clear of the "resubmit" button and simply wait 14 days.
