Client not responding

Hi, I am new to Upwork and got hired for my second job by an Upwork Plus Client.

We started the contract and agreed at an hourly rate.

I have completed the task and the client is not responding. It's been 2 days now. How soon should I close the contract?

I am concerned that getting no feedback would affect my profile (since I am new). It's also difficult finding another job because I have only one completed job thus far.

I also don't want to lose a good client by rushing to close the contract.

Would appreciate some guidance.

Thank you

If I leave it open, how long is an appropriate time to wait?

Regards

Never close a contract yourself. Only if the client does it, you are guaranteed feedback.

It won't.

Then don't. You can keep it open for as long as you like and it won't affect your JSS.

As for everything else - just wait. The client is only obliged to pay you for the work you've done, nothing more, and if yo charge by using the timer than payment will happen automatically.

If the client wants to contact you then they will. If you keep messaging them then you run the risk of irritating them, which could result in poor feedback.

That, and it's only been two days. You definitely need more patience.

Thank you, do you suggest I close the contract or leave it open?

I'd leave it at least until you're certain the client won't be back. For me, that means several months.

How do I get paid if I keep the contract open?

It's set as an hourly rate.

I guess this is moment you use your "eagerness to learn" and start doing your homework. I am not going to ask whether you have tracked the time.

Thank you for the link! Lol yes I have, getting the hang of things

In EXACTLY the same way you get paid if the contract is closed... Automatically (if you've done it right).

Get Paid for Hourly Contracts

As long as you have tracked your time correctly and sent the client the work, there is nothing to worry about. 2 days is nothing.
