Client refuses to give contract

I found a client on Upwork and he agreed to hire me but he refused to offer contract on Upwork on the basis of "not trusting Upwork". He claims that Upwork might block PayPal ID which will render him unable to pay me. What do I do?

Nicole:

He is trying to trick you.

Here is what will probably happen if you agree to work for him and have him pay you directly through PayPal:

- You will send him the work that you do and he will not pay you

[or]

- You will be be suspended or terminated from working on Upwork again

[or]

- both of these

If he does not trust Upwork, why is he hiring people through Upwork?

Does that make any sense to you?

Report this client, and then run, run away.

Hi Nicole,

Could you please submit a ticket request and attach a screenshot where the client offers to pay you outside of Upwork? It's not only a serious violation of Upwork Tos, but also means that you won't be able to benefit from Upwork Payment Protection. Check this help article for more information.

Thank you.

What do you do? Well if he refuses to offer a contract on Upwork then you refuse to start working.

This is a Stranger on the internet, If he doesn't trust Upwork why should you trust this stranger and possible give them your paypal account numbers or bank account information? Upwork has safeguards, Escrow for fixed jobs and hourly payment guarantee for hourly jobs.

A client must hire you on this site.

And a client must fund escrow BEFORE you start work.

If you're getting this much trouble now,,,, just think of the trouble you're going to have later on dealing with not only his not funding escrow or funding it for 10 cents and promises to pay you the rest when he gets work, And think of the problems he's gong to have with your work. It will nver be good enough or there will be endless edits and revisions.

If you don't have a contract, then he isn't a client. Woman Sad

There seem to be more scammers than legit jobs on Upwork. Is this the result of increasing the Upwork's fee?

Why would increasing the fees result in more scammers?
