Hi

I completed a job for a client. He was supposed to approve and release funds. Instead he has ended the contract and asking return of funds from Escrow. Does that mean he hasn't approved? He didn't say anything about that in the messages. Messages kept being cc-ed to me as if I was the client.

Ended - Dec 7, 2015

Ended - Dec 7, 2015

Amount Paid: $13.20
Amount Agreed: $13.20
Amount in Escrow: $0.02 (Return requested)

It says here Amount Paid : $13.20, it's showing up on my work history.

I have completed two other jobs where the clients approved work and released funds. And that was different.

Is this a scam? Should I confirm the Escrow Return?

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out in this.

Naeema.

No, do not confirm the return escrow. You will never see your money. I would first write to your client and ask why he is asking for the money back. It is just possible he has made a mistake.

But you must contact CS. Don't just leave it, otherwise the money will be refunded by default to the client.

Nichola
I had the same problem with a client . I made the job done . and he paid me 12.50 out of 15.00
then he ended the job and made the rating .
few moments ago he requested a refund . so I asked him why ? he said that he is unfamilliar with upwork and made this by mistake .
should I approve ? or should denie ?
PS: I do not know what is going to happen in " dispute "

Hi Mohannad,

There is no way for the client to withdraw his request for refund. You can go ahead and choose the option to dispute. Once our dispute team reaches out to the client, he can ask them to release the money from Escrow to you.

I hope this helps.

is that mean he needs to return the first down payment and the last down payment? or just the last part?

Amount Agreed: $13.20
Amount Paid: $13.20
Amount in Escrow: $0.02 (Return requested)

Seems as though the client has paid the freelancer the amount that was agreed to. Thus, the freelancer's transaction history should show the payment as pending. Also, it appears the client has requested a return from escrow in the amount of $0.02 (2 cents), which is the amount overpaid to escrow in addition to the agreed amount.

If indeed the freencer's transaction reports indicate that the agreed amount of $13.20 is pending, then give the client his/her 2 cents.

Hopefully, Valeria or Petra will reply to the original post above. Their advice is always correct.

You know you're working with a straight up baller when they demand their 2 cents back.
