Good day!

I just want to know if this Client is not a scam. Mani Tule. He message me yesterday and give the link profile of their hiring manager.

The said hiring manager wants me to pay 24$ for ''License for Work" fee and said that if I cannot pay, I can't start with the job.

Hope you can give me clarifications for this.

Thank you.

Hi Jenny,

This is a scam, please note that you should never pay or accept payments off the platform, and need to be hired on Upwork to start working. Please pm me the job post link or report it directly to Customer Support so our team can take action against the client.

Please review these safety tips in order to work successfully and safely on Upwork.

You were wise and correct to identify that job as a scam.

When "clients" say that they want you to contact their "hiring manager", it is a scam.

When "clients" ask you to conduct an interview on Facebook, it is a scam.

Besides what everyone else has written, no real Upwork job will require a freelancer to pay for a work license. This is a scam so the fake client can collect the license fee himself. Cat Mad

re: "Hope you can give me clarifications for this."

Actually I find these requests funny.

If I pay somebody $24, they better bring me a steak dinner or do my landscaping or give a great haircut or something.

I'm certainly not going to pay somebody $24 so that I can do work for them.

That's not how "work" works. When we work, we get paid. Not the other way around.

Anyway, we know this is always a scam, and it is prohibited by Upwork.
