So I am new to up work & I realize we have a connect system which we need to use wisely for jobs that match our skills.
Over the 2 months on up work there is a particular category of client that post up jobs to which h I write a customized proposal to & then no reply.
Now I check the stats of the job to see if they are interviewing anyone else but it shows that they nether are talking to anyone.
The jobs still remains as available after a month and a half with the interview and hires figures on 0.
I would be ok if they had hired someone but to know that the connects have gone wasted on someone who is non responsive and not yet ended the project.
I know this is bold to say but it seems like they posted up a job and then left the platform and may have found someone offline ( I realize this is speculation and a long shot)
I wanted to know:
a) What does upwork do to this type of client? ( will I get my connects back ?)
b) Is there something that I can do as a freelancer about this situation?
Open to getting any kind of advice from the freelancers who have been on the platform for a long time.
THANK YOU!!

If there has been no activity on a job posting in 30 days and there has been no hiring, your connects will be refunded.

No, they won't. Connects are only returned if the client closes their job - which they rarely do - not if the job expires.

Hi Marcelino,
Thank you for your message. I understand some clients unfortunately will post jobs, not hire, and never close their jobs. I know this is frustrating and we will continue to reach out to clients to encourage them to hire or remove their job. I also recommend you closely review the client’s details, such as past hire rate, to help you decide whether to use Connects to submit a proposal for a project.
Thank you,
Pradeep

Hmm, instead of reaching out to clients, wouldn't be easier to just refund the connects after the job is closed for inactivity? Or is that too far fetched?
