Client threatening

Dear all,

I am in urgent need of help. I have worked on this platform for more than 4 years. Today was the first time that I faced a nightmare. I was working with a client for the first time. He placed the offer and I told him to check the quality of work first and I will accept his offer. I was supposed to send him the work by evening 4th March 2018. I got quite caught up in urgent things and could not send him the work yesterday. He sent messages which I did not answer at that time. In the morning when I went online to submit the work I noticed that he had left some threatening messages by saying that he will post this conversation on blogs and he had withdrawn the offer. I noticed that it was pointless to send him work then and I decided not to proceed working with him. I deleted the file and I thought things will end. When I told him that he should not be threatening on a public platform. He started to saying bad things about my nationality and religion which is strongly against the professional ethics of this platform. He was pushing me to prove my point and send him the work if I had done it. For the first time I felt threatened and as mentioned earlier I already deleted the file once I had made up my mind not to proceed with him. He has sent me harrasing messages despite the fact that I still apologized for any delay I caused. I am literally feeling frightened. The person sounded insane. I have already raised a ticket but he threatened me that I am a lier and he would tarnish my reputation. I desperately need upwork help.,

There is no contract. Send screenshots of your conversations to customer service and block him. Don't write any answers. Just ignore. It might be a ruse to get the work for free, or he might have psychological problems or something else. It doesn't matter. Forget about him. Any reaction you give will make things worse. I'm sorry this happened to you but these things happen.

Report the client, block him, move on and expect a drop in your Job Success Score. Of course he can seriously hurt your JSS, but other than this he cannot leave you a public feedback to hurt your reputation. There are many unreasonable people in this world.

If I understood the OP correctly, there was no contract in place. Therefore, the client cannot hurt her JSS. 

Thank you for correcting me! I thought the OP finally accepted the contract, which is clearly not the case.
