Hi there,

I was just wondering in what case can you interact with a client off upwork? Obviously with any work i get through here all jobs and transactions will be managed and paid via this website. But say if a client wanted to promote me on their social media or meet up to discuss anything, is that allowed?

Hi Bella,

You can refer to Section 7 or the User Agreement for detailed information. Please note that if you identified or were identified by any party on Upwork, you agree "to request, make, and receive all payments for work directly or indirectly with that party or arising out of your relationship with that party" on Upwork for 24 months.

Yes all payments with any Upwork clients are done via the ESCROW on Upwork.

Would you please be able to give me a direct reply to my question?

1. If a client would like to socialise outside of Upwork is this allowed? I understand that all work and payments for jobs conducted with this client will be done and managed through the Upwork site.

2.If a client wants to promote me on a social media platform, is this allowed?

I encourage you to check out the Upwork TOS specifically, section 7 of the user agreement as Bojan has shared on this thread for more information.

You may interact with the client any way you like once you have entered into a contract on Upwork and as long any payments are processed through Upwork. 

Before you have a contract, you cannot disclose any off-Upwork contact information (such as your full name or website URL). First name and last initial only and all communications on the platform prior to a contract.
