I am new to Upwork. I completed a project, closed it but realized that I forgot to log the hours in my work diary for payment.
I can see the recorded hours under my project but it is not reflected in earnings.

Hours logged get charged from client on Monday, it won't be in earnings until it is charged. By the way, manually logged hours are not protected, so if the client decides not to pay for it, it can be trouble. But if they do successfully get charged on Monday, they will enter 5 day review period, during which the client can dispute it. After that they will enter security pending period and after that become available for you to withdraw.

So what is it? You didn't log the hours? Or you logged the hours? One of those can't be true.

Your post does not make sense.
It is like saying that your pet is a cat, but your pet is not a cat.
If you can see the recorded hours under your project (in the work diary), then those hours were indeed recorded. And you you will be paid for those hours automatically.
Go here:
Upwork -> Reports -> Overview
Can you see your money ANYWHERE?
Then you will receive the money.
Go here:
Upwork -> Reports -> Overview -> [contract title] -> Work Diary
Can you see your tiem ANYWHERE?
Then that means you will get paid automatically.

Perhaps I am not explaining it to where it is understood.
Mind you, I am new so the verbiage may be off. Nevertheless, I completed the work and used the Upwork timetracker. I was under the assumption that it automatically logged the hours.
However, when I go to earnings, I do not see that particular project shown as completed even though I closed it. When I click on the actual project, it shows the hours recorded by the UW timetracker.

Simply put, I closed the project after completion and did not record the hours in the work diary.

re: "I completed the work and used the Upwork timetracker."
That's all you need to do.
You will get paid automatically.
re: "I was under the assumption that it automatically logged the hours."
That is correct.
re: "However, when I go to earnings, I do not see that particular project shown as completed even though I closed it. When I click on the actual project, it shows the hours recorded by the UW timetracker."
Don't worry about that.
That doesn't matter.

Don't worry about that.
You will receive your money.
You are worrying about nothing.

Hours logged for a particular project would be invoiced to your client the following Monday. Afterwards your funds will be under review for 10days, and would be visible in your earnings or balance on a Wednesday after the 10days security period.
hope this helps.

It's cool. Don't worry about it.
