Is there anything negative about closing a contract and opening it during the same day(s)?
I have a client that I have different kinds of project one after another every few month. Would make sense to have a contract for each one on completion?

I have a few clients that I do occasional small contracts for that often close out the same day, and I've never seen any negative effects from it. But, if this is frequent (one after the other as you said) you may want to consider a standing hourly contract just to save on the paperwork.
