Confusion about fees

Hi

I'm new and completed my first job. The full agreed amount was paid by the client but my available balance is $10 less than the 20%. When I download the CSV the correct Upwork fee is listed there.

Can anyone help explain where this $10 has gone?

Upwork charge 20% upto $500 with a client, but they also charge you VAT. Watch out for that.

Thank you James. So I can expect VAT to be charged on all completed projects? That would explain the missing amount.

Unfortunately, yes, this will be applied to all Upworks services. You're not alone in your confusion, caught me out initially as well.
