Another question I have is the following:
On Tuesday, I applied for a few jobs, and the connects were deducted. However, there is no record of these jobs being applied for, yet the connects are still...poof.
Am I, and those of us who have been affected in this way, going to be reimbursed for those connects that have been lost?

Hi Irene,
While there was an issue with connects showing incorrectly on Tuesday, it should now be back to normal. To confirm I compared your Proposals page and your Connects History page and all the proposals match. A couple of them are in the Archived folder, however. No proposals were lost on Tuesday.
Thank you.

If a client refuses you or awards the job to someone else, Upwork automatically archives the proposal, and will also archive it if the proposal has gone beyond its sell-by date.

I don't think the proposals being sent to the archives has anything to do with the job being awarded to someone else. I have pending candidacies that show on the job post that the client has already awarded the job to someone else, but they're still listed in my active candidacy list.
"Sell-by-date"??? Lol, that exists?

No, what I mean is the following.
I applied to jobs on Tuesday, my connects went down, but under my 'applied for' jobs, they did not show. Now I am told the applications went straight to archive? Doesn't make sense.

Irene,
Unless things have changed with this 'hide-a-bid' system,I am pretty sure that even if a job had been awarded and archived, your name should definitely have been on the list of freelancer proposals. Have you checked your archives? It certainly seems as if there has been another glitch, and you should question this with CS.
@Dawn Somewhere (I can't find the thread), Valeria told us that job offers/proposals that remain open without being awarded by the client, are automatically archived after ninety days (I think).

If the client chooses "close this job posting and decline all other applicants if this freelancer accepts the offer" while making an offer all other applicants' applications are declined and archived.
If the client does NOT choose that the job posting remains open and the applications of the other applicants remain active and are not archived.
