Connects

I submitted two proposals, but just as I clicked 'submit proposal,' I found myself outside of the top four bidding positions. However, I still haven't received my boosted connects back.

Hi all,

 

As a freelancer or agency, you'll use Connects to Submit Proposals and let clients know you're interested in their project. You receive ten free Connects every month at the beginning of your billing cycle and bonuses for some interviews you win. We will send you a notification in Upwork (notification bell) and an email when you earn free Connects. For more information on how this works, check out our guide here.

 

To purchase Connects, go to Settings > Membership & Connects and click on the green 'Add More Connects' button. From there, select the amount to buy and click on the 'Buy Connects' button. Please note, that if you have sufficient funds on your Upwork balance, the charge will be applied to your Upwork balance. You can check out this help article to learn about the available Billing Methods.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the unexpected and unjustified deduction of Connects from my account. Despite thoroughly reviewing my Connects History and verifying that my primary billing method is correctly set up, I have identified significant discrepancies that need urgent resolution.

The specific deductions in question are as follows:

10 Connects were deducted as Unused Connects on June 12, 2024.
2 Connects were deducted as Unused Connects on May 15, 2024.
36 Connects were deducted as Unused Connects on May 13, 2024.
These deductions have severely impacted my ability to bid on new projects, which is crucial for maintaining an active and competitive profile on Upwork.
Given the importance of Connects for my work, I am confident that these deductions are due to a system error. I kindly request an immediate review and restoration of the deducted Connects to my account.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this urgent matter and look forward to a swift resolution.

Hi Youseff

 

While unused Connects roll over each month, they expire a year from their date of issue. I'm afraid expired Connects can't be recovered.

This is my Connects History Jun 12, 2024, Unused Connects -10 May 15, 2024, Unused Connects -2 May 13, 2024, Unused Connects -36 My unused connections that I got a year ago were deducted but I deleted my account by mistake and contacted with Upwork support team and got them back so I didn't have time to use them can I get them back please I need them urgently.

Dear Upwork Support Team,
Thank you for your prompt response and for the support you provided. I sincerely appreciate the 25 Connects credited to my account and have rated your assistance highly.
However, I would like to bring to your attention that the total number of deducted Connects was 48, while the credited amount is only 25. I am not requesting this out of greed or exploitation, but rather of necessity. Applying for any job on Upwork typically requires at least 12 to 17 Connects, if not more. Therefore, I am in urgent need of the remaining Connects that were deducted.
I kindly request further assistance restoring the additional Connects to help me continue my freelancing journey on Upwork.

Hi, Just a question, is there still free connects on Upwork. Before, I used to received free connects every month, but I haven't received it since May I think. Is there still free connects?

Yes. Each month, the Freelancer Basic account should receive 10 free Connects to help reach out to more clients.

I've recently signed in in Upwork and I had 50 connects. I logged in today and there wasn't any connects. I didn't apply in any jobs, can you help me, please?

Hello Alessandra,

 

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding the 50 free Connects credit on your account. To clarify, Upwork currently requires new freelancers to do one of two things before being able to submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan for $20 USD a month or purchase 100 Connects for $15 USD. After you fulfill this requirement, you will receive 50 free Connects to help you get started on Upwork.

 

Additionally, to help you kickstart your journey, I recommend exploring the available learning path in the Academy section. You can also find more information about Connects on this page.

I also want to ask, how I can get back connects that I had to bid for older proposals.

I want to take advantage of get free connects by watching videos, but no videos appear in my browser. I use safari. Does anyone know the problem I'm facing and how to solve it? Really appreciate all responses.

Upwork has never given back connects when you complete a milestone, so there's been no change. You're mistaken. Isn't getting paid enough of a reward for you?

When I firstly activated my account from May 6  to Jun 5, I only get 91 connects, which was explained as for prorated reasons. When I posted to ask where are the remaining 9, the customer service told me that I will get the full 100 in the full cycle and no need to worry about it. However, the second billing cycle has started and I still not get the remaining 9. Could I confirm whether I would get them or not? If yes, where may I claim for those? Thanks a lot!

Thank you for your message. I checked and can confirm that 100 Connects are already credited to your Upwork account today. Since the Connects were prorated the remaining Connects are not credited in the next billing cycle. Feel free to message us if you need any other assistance.

Hi Pradeep, 

Thanks for your reply. Do not quite understand about your message on "remaining Connects". If they are not creditted in the next billing cycle, will they be credited if I cancel the plan post Aug 5? Otherwise, it seems not make too much sense as the 100 Connects cannot be collected in full in the first billing cycle. IF someone upgrade the account on the last day of a natual month, does it mean that $20 only gets them 3 Connects? Thanks for your clarification ahead.

I just joined Upwork and I assumed after reading articles posted by Upwork that I would receive free connects and be able to apply for my first few jobs. After reading forums I see they've changed their policy though it's not very clear where to find that change on the website other than chatters in the community forums. I highly recommend they remove all these articles about how to receive free connects since none of them feel possible and are very misleading to a new freelancer.

Same here. Just signed up this morning and thought I would get free connects to get me started. Really bad of upwork to have left those 'funnels' running and not take down 'false' statements. Bad faith truthfully. Best take them down Upwork. 'Its Just Not Cricket' as the English would say......
