Connects

I submitted two proposals, but just as I clicked 'submit proposal,' I found myself outside of the top four bidding positions. However, I still haven't received my boosted connects back.

Hi all,

As a freelancer or agency, you'll use Connects to Submit Proposals and let clients know you're interested in their project. You receive ten free Connects every month at the beginning of your billing cycle and bonuses for some interviews you win. We will send you a notification in Upwork (notification bell) and an email when you earn free Connects. For more information on how this works, check out our guide here.

To purchase Connects, go to Settings > Membership & Connects and click on the green 'Add More Connects' button. From there, select the amount to buy and click on the 'Buy Connects' button. Please note, that if you have sufficient funds on your Upwork balance, the charge will be applied to your Upwork balance. You can check out this help article to learn about the available Billing Methods.

Recently there have been so many suspicious job posts. They interview you and immediately ask for your wallet details and I've been reporting them every time and they get banned quickly but my connects to propose and bid on the contract are never refunded.

I got a notification today that one of my proposals was declined because the client is suspended. I went through my connects history but again, no refund of either connects or the extra bid.

Hi Aayush,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I checked the job you are referring to and it looks like your proposal has been declined by the client. Please know that Connects will be automatically returned to your Upwork account when the job is canceled by the client or the job is removed by Upwork for TOS violation.

Hello Sachin,

Thank you for reaching out. I have checked your Connects History page, and it looks like the Connects deducted from your account were used for submitted proposals. I also see some Connects that have been refunded for canceled jobs.

You can access your Connects History on this page. Let me know if you need further assistance.

That's the problem mam, I have applied some jobs I usually do that and when the job closed I'll get the connects I applied 3 jobs at that day and the day before. suddenly my account went into verification and it withdraw all the proposal automatically when I got my account verified it withdraw all the proposal. So I lost my connects. I only apply for geinune clients because they only close there job after selecting clients. I never withdraw even a single proposal except the first one it's long before

I've checked your profile, and I suggest creating a specialized profile with at least 10 portfolio pieces. Additionally, add a project catalog with a minimum of 10 projects. For client hunting, follow these steps:

  1. When you view a job post, check the total spend amount of the client.
  2. Verify if the client is payment-verified.
  3. Review the client's feedback and see if they have a good history with freelancers.
  4. Ensure the client’s hire rate is above 50% before applying.

This approach will help you attract better opportunities and increase your chances of landing quality projects.

Dear Upwork  Team,

I have noticed a growing concern among the freelancer community regarding the costs associated with applying for jobs and the engagement from clients. Specifically, many freelancers invest significant amounts of money to boost their proposals, yet often find that clients do not respond or seem disinterested in reviewing these proposals.
Given that clients can post jobs for free, it raises a question: Are clients aware of the financial investment freelancers make to apply for these opportunities? Additionally, what measures are being taken to ensure that clients engage more responsibly with the proposals they receive?
I believe addressing these concerns could greatly enhance the experience for freelancers on Upwork and foster a more productive and fair marketplace for all parties involved.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hello Sir,

I am Wahidur. I want to buy an Upwork membership, but unfortunately, the endorsement on my card has expired. Can I now purchase it using a family member's credit card?

Best regards,

Hello MD Wahidur Rahman,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, you may use another person's card to purchase Connects as long as you're authorized by the card owner. Please be aware of this rule, as your account may be put on hold if the card owner does not authorize this transaction. If there are any issues, our team may request more information, and/or the card owner may need to contact the bank to authorize the transaction.

Dear Upwork Support,

I hope this message finds you well.

I applied for a job (Job ID: ~01ffb9aae1eee3717d) which is no longer available on the platform, and no one was hired for this position. Given these circumstances, I would like to request a refund for the connections used to apply for this job.

You can view the job post using the following link: [https://www.upwork.com/jobs/~01ffb9aae1eee3717d]
I have also taken a screenshot of the job post indicating that it is no longer available.

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hello Youssef Dardeer,

Thank you for reaching out. Upon checking, it looks like the job post has expired. Note that your Connects are not refunded if you withdraw your proposal from a project, the client hires another freelancer or lets the job expire without hiring. You can learn more about Connects here.

Hello Ivy,

Thank you for your response.

I did not withdraw my proposal, and the client did not hire another freelancer. The job expired without any hires. I have heard from other freelancers that in such cases, the connections should be refunded. This particular job used 12 connections.

Additionally, I went to check the proposal for this job, and I found that it has been removed from my proposal history.

Could you please reconsider my request for a refund of these connections?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Youssef Dardeer
