Connects

I submitted two proposals, but just as I clicked 'submit proposal,' I found myself outside of the top four bidding positions. However, I still haven't received my boosted connects back.

Hi all,

 

As a freelancer or agency, you'll use Connects to Submit Proposals and let clients know you're interested in their project. You receive ten free Connects every month at the beginning of your billing cycle and bonuses for some interviews you win. We will send you a notification in Upwork (notification bell) and an email when you earn free Connects. For more information on how this works, check out our guide here.

 

To purchase Connects, go to Settings > Membership & Connects and click on the green 'Add More Connects' button. From there, select the amount to buy and click on the 'Buy Connects' button. Please note, that if you have sufficient funds on your Upwork balance, the charge will be applied to your Upwork balance. You can check out this help article to learn about the available Billing Methods.

go to connects and check connects history they should be reappeared to your connects just make sure you check the connects history daily

I've checked your profile, and I suggest creating a specialized profile with at least 10 portfolio pieces. Additionally, add a project catalog with a minimum of 10 projects. For client hunting, follow these steps:

  1. When you view a job post, check the total spend amount of the client.
  2. Verify if the client is payment-verified.
  3. Review the client's feedback and see if they have a good history with freelancers.
  4. Ensure the client’s hire rate is above 50% before applying.

This approach will help you attract better opportunities and increase your chances of landing quality projects.

Dear Upwork  Team,

I have noticed a growing concern among the freelancer community regarding the costs associated with applying for jobs and the engagement from clients. Specifically, many freelancers invest significant amounts of money to boost their proposals, yet often find that clients do not respond or seem disinterested in reviewing these proposals.
Given that clients can post jobs for free, it raises a question: Are clients aware of the financial investment freelancers make to apply for these opportunities? Additionally, what measures are being taken to ensure that clients engage more responsibly with the proposals they receive?
I believe addressing these concerns could greatly enhance the experience for freelancers on Upwork and foster a more productive and fair marketplace for all parties involved.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, you may use another person's card to purchase Connects as long as you're authorized by the card owner. Please be aware of this rule, as your account may be put on hold if the card owner does not authorize this transaction. If there are any issues, our team may request more information, and/or the card owner may need to contact the bank to authorize the transaction.

Thank you for reaching out. Upon checking, it looks like the job post has expired. Note that your Connects are not refunded if you withdraw your proposal from a project, the client hires another freelancer or lets the job expire without hiring. You can learn more about Connects here.

Hello Ivy,

Thank you for your response.

I did not withdraw my proposal, and the client did not hire another freelancer. The job expired without any hires. I have heard from other freelancers that in such cases, the connections should be refunded. This particular job used 12 connections.

Additionally, I went to check the proposal for this job, and I found that it has been removed from my proposal history.

Could you please reconsider my request for a refund of these connections?

Connects are not returned for expired jobs. You can refer to the help article shared by Ivy.

Rahul, you should study the rules before you join - there are NO free connects anymore at Upwork. You need to buy them or subscribe for Plus membership. 

You will have to buy them.

Why am I receiving 93 Connects instead of 100 after upgrading to a Plus membership?

I did not apply for any job, but my connects have been deducted from my account.

 

 Available now Badge will deduct 1 connect per day , i noticed it on connects history. u better check the action in it.

Hi, I can't understand why Upwork don't refund connects when job is closed without hire. Am I have to pay 100 dollars every month to catch a job? It really doesn't make sense. I have 25 archived proposals and only one job is hired.

You can look for information on the forum, there are many threads about this.
Connects are not returned unless the client closes the contract without signing up or if Upwork closes it because it is considered a scam.

They closes it without signing up but connects are still not refunded. 

Maria is correct. The client has to close the job. If they do, then you will see the job has closed, and the connects will be returned. The client doen't have to hire.

For example I submitted this proposal 2 months ago, It's closed without hire but I didn't get any connects.

I don't know for sure, but most likely the job has been closed by Upwork because it has "expired".

Could you please confirm if you clicked on the button "Get your free Connects"? If you watched the video today and clicked on the button, please allow 24 to 48 hours for the credit to appear on your Connects History page. Let us know if you need further assistance.

I applied to a project but after the client contacted me to start the project, I recieved an email from upwork that my proposal was declined because upwork had suspended the client. Upwork has not returned my  14 connects for submitting the proposal.

Hi, Ivygail and the Upwork team, 

I'm also similar to Crystals. I applied for the Job and saw a warning Client is suspended while during the time I sent a proposal, I didn't see anything about a warning. After I sent the proposal, then I saw a warning, and the Client didn't have any operation about that job in real. Some weeks have past, and I haven't received any return Connects about this post.

Hello,

I have been in upwork for a long time, earlier in case of a withdrawal for an unresponsive client. The connects used to get refunded. 

 

But currently, this is not the case, and it's quite expensive to buy connects for only job search. Most of the clients have raised the proposal connects in search of genuine freelancers, which is understood. But I joined upwork for work, not only to invest my money.

 

I would recommend that please work on the connects refunds because even though I buy connects it's not 100% guaranteed that I get the job. There should be some relief for the struggling freelancer.

I've been on this platform for over 3 years now, during this time I never saw Upwork refunding connects if the proposal is withdrawn. 

 

And doing so does not make any business sense! 

 

This is not a job, freelancing is similar to running a business you have to invest in order to get returns, although returns are not guranteed!

I recently bought connects on Upwork, and the payment has been successfully deducted from my account. However, my connects balance is still showing as 0. I've already refreshed my account and checked for any payment confirmation, but the issue persists. Could you please help resolve this as soon as possible?
