Connects

I submitted two proposals, but just as I clicked 'submit proposal,' I found myself outside of the top four bidding positions. However, I still haven't received my boosted connects back.

Hi all,

 

As a freelancer or agency, you'll use Connects to Submit Proposals and let clients know you're interested in their project. You receive ten free Connects every month at the beginning of your billing cycle and bonuses for some interviews you win. We will send you a notification in Upwork (notification bell) and an email when you earn free Connects. For more information on how this works, check out our guide here.

 

To purchase Connects, go to Settings > Membership & Connects and click on the green 'Add More Connects' button. From there, select the amount to buy and click on the 'Buy Connects' button. Please note, that if you have sufficient funds on your Upwork balance, the charge will be applied to your Upwork balance. You can check out this help article to learn about the available Billing Methods.

I checked your account and can confirm that the monthly Connects are already credited to your Upwork account each month. You can check the Connect History page to verify this.

I applied for 12 jobs. Only 3 of my applications were reviewed. Why doesn't Upwork reimburse connects if the app wasn't even looked at?

Hi Loretta,

 

To clarify, we only return Connects if any of these happens:
 

  • If a project is canceled by the client before a contract is made, Connects you used on that proposal will be returned. This does not apply to expired job posts.
  • If we remove a project’s post because we believe it violates our Terms of Service, the Connects you used on that proposal will be returned.

Hello Upwork communities, I have on question regards to boosting proposal. If I want to retract my proposal and the client already hires someone, could i be able to get my extra connects that I have used to bid? Thanks!

Hi there,

If you retract your proposal after the client has already hired someone else, unfortunately, you won't get your connects back. Connects are deducted as soon as you submit a proposal, regardless of whether the client has made a hire or not. It's important to consider this before sending proposals to ensure you're applying strategically.

Thanks for you reply, but I didn't ask getting all connects back, instead THE CONNECTS I HAVE USED TO BID. for example, if the job requires 16 connects to submit a proposal then I boosted my proposal using 22 connects, which means I have used extra 6 connects. so if i retract, will i get my 6 connects back? if the client didn't interact with my proposal?

Thanks for your reply. I understand your concern. When you retract a proposal, you won't get back the connects you used for the original bid or for boosting. So, in your example, if you used 16 connects for the initial proposal and an additional 6 connects for boosting (total 22 connects), retracting your proposal would not refund any of those connects, regardless of whether the client interacted with your proposal or not.

Hi Team,

 

Please take an initiative against connects for bidding 

it's really sad and i am fed up with this byuing 150 - 200 USD connects in past 2-3 weeks but I didn't get even one project and my profile is Top rated.

The thing is that I am not askig that I didnt get project but the issue is with the connects 

Please upwork take and inititaive and make connects lowers for bidding like put only 4-6 connets per bidding and there is no first place bidding option otherwise really we lost lot of amout and in back we have nothing in hand 

Please stop this 1st palce bidding to bidding higes connects 

make 4-6 connect per bidding atleast as we have already monthly plan and fater that we are bying extra connects and at the end nothingin our hand so please take and important step its really very very important for this platform 

it's realy going very very expensive and this leads to low popularity and upwork is for peoples aroung the world to get connected and freely mind do things but here now lots of perssure in mind 

1. Pressure of Byuing connects

2. Pressure of getting to be on 1st place

3. pressure of gettng job after spending 100 USD  for connects 

 

so please this place is good before these connects are introduce if you really need to stay with cinnects then make 4-6 connect per bid and no body bid for 1st place its really insane and things going very bad

 

so please please take innititave agaisnt this connects

I agree 100%. UW seems to be distorting the bidding process. It affects market forces unfairly.

The client closed the job, but I didn't get any connects back. As per the upwork policy I should get my connects back. But when I contacted the support, they said that when the client closes the job the connects are not returned.

You get the refund of connects if the client closes the job and in reason they select project cancelled.

Hi Mohammad,

 

Connects are returned only when the client cancels the job without hiring a freelancer or Upwork removes it for a TOS violation. This is not applicable to expired job posts. 

 

I checked your account and can confirm that you have received Connects for a canceled job on June 10, 2024. Rest assured, you will continue to receive Connects automatically for all canceled jobs if they meet the above requirements.

Hello, I'm not receiving my connects, every time I've had connects I've bought them. In addition, I can't get in touch with upwork support. I've found their service to be terrible, how can I get someone to help me?

Hi,

Its been more than 3 months I created my profile and yet to get a project. I recently applied for a project a week ago which is payment verified. It shows as client has not even started the interview process. My connects are getting wasted. Upwork should help freelancers by giving our connects back if the client is not responding to job posted or if client is rejecting us.

Hi,

Now there is no free connects for new freelancers. Atleast Upwork should consider to return the connects if we are not considered or selcted for a job we apply. They can charge us once we get a project. We have to pay for connects until we get selected and also provide service charge for them.
