I started an hourly contract and I have worked for over 12 hours. Now I have been informed that the contract is suspended as Upwork is carrying out an investigation. So what will happen to the 12 hours worked? Will I be paid?

Hi, My hourly contract got suspended by Upwork and the client is not replying to my messages. I have spent a few hours working. How i can get paid for that? Here is my contract id. 34559925

Hi Ali,
I looked into the job you mentioned and found out that the contract is on hold because we are reviewing a problem with your client's account. This could happen for various reasons, but we are not allowed to disclose any details about your clients' accounts for confidentiality purposes.
Please note that hours worked before the contract was paused may be covered by Upwork Hourly Protection. You should stop working on the contract and request the client to resolve the issue flagged on their account.

Thanks, Pradeep, Upwork has refunded the payment to the client. I was paid for the hours of work. Could you sort it out? Because the client is not replying to my text messages.

Hello, Annie, I faced same problem again with another project.
Client added part milestone and said to pay rest milestone when done project, he said to give result file first due to time urgency, so I did it, but project suspended suddenly by upwork.
In this case, my account will get bad effect by upwork?
and why this happens? I am really disappointing now, because its 2nd time for me.
Please let me know clear answer, thanks.
Leo.

Hi Upwork,
Please resolve this issue as I have lost several good offers in the past because of the Upwork system.
I received an offer this morning but I can't accept it from my end as it's showing there is an error and that i should contact upwork to resolve it.

Hi Arjay,
There is an issue but Upwork did not notify me that there is an issue. I think Upwork needs to improve in it's communication with freelancer.
I have tried contacting the client, but it's showing no room details. Please provide valuable feedback of the client.

I worked around 16 hours for a client on an hourly contract. And I used Upwork hourly protection (I did all the work using a time tracker). After 16 hours, the client paused the contract and my weekly summary is in review now.
But now I cannot see his chat in my messages.
What is the issue, and will I get the payment that is in review?
Apr 3, 2023 12:01:16 PM by Rehman K
Brother for hourly projects your payment will move from review to pending on Tuesday almost. Don't worry you will get it if client paused or cancelled the project. Because Upwork offers hourly protection

Hi Ahmad,
I'm sorry to hear that you got caught off guard about the status of your contract and payment. Please note that if a contract is on hold, it means that there is a problem with your client’s Upwork account, and you cannot continue to bill that client through Upwork until the issue is resolved. There are many possible reasons this could occur, although we can’t share the specifics regarding your clients' accounts due to privacy concerns.
Also note that hours billed prior to the contract being paused are still eligible for Payment Protection. You should stop working on the contract and get in touch with your client to know when the contract could resume. You can check this help article to learn more.

So,
Sir, I have stopped working now.
My question is that will I get paid for those that are in the review?
Apr 3, 2023 03:26:27 PM by Arjay M
Hi Ahmad,
Please note that any work completed during a contract paused is not covered by Upwork’s Payment Protection programs. For hourly contracts, don’t worry, hours that you billed prior to the contract being paused are still eligible for payment protection.
We highly suggest you review the help article I've shared above so that you can familiarize yourself with this kind of issue.

Today I just received a notification that one of my ongoing hourly projects is temporarily suspended the strange thing is neither I nor the Client knows the reason for this and we didn't receive any elaborative explanation from Upwork. Don't you think Upwork should at least give an exact reason for these sudden suspensions for clarity so it does not create any panic?
Apr 4, 2023 02:13:56 AM by Jonathan H
I am unsure how often they suspend contracts like this, but I have had it happen once and it was because my clients payment card had expired - once updated everything went back to normal.

I have 2 contracts, both are bonus payment.
One is paused by upwork. They issue with client.
And second one is paused by client.
Payment from both contracts are pending yet.
What will happen when I cancel or end both projects.
Will I get paid the bonus amount or it'll refund to client.
I need some assistance..
Anyone help please
Apr 9, 2023 03:45:29 AM by Zain A
If both of your contracts are currently paused, and the payments are still pending, it is unclear whether you will receive the bonus amount or not.
If you cancel or end both projects, the outcome will depend on the terms of your contract and the agreement you have with the client. In most cases, if the project is cancelled or ended before completion, any outstanding payments will be refunded to the client. However, if there is an agreement in place between you and the client regarding the bonus payment, you may be entitled to receive the bonus amount despite the project being cancelled or paused.
To resolve this issue, it is best to communicate with both the client and Upwork support to discuss the matter and come to a mutually agreeable solution. Upwork support may be able to provide guidance on the next steps to take and help facilitate a resolution that is fair to all parties involved.
It is important to remember that clear communication and transparency is key when dealing with contract disputes on Upwork. Be sure to document all communications with the client and Upwork support, and keep a record of any relevant information or evidence that may support your claim for the bonus payment.

There is no payment protection if you agreed to be paid via bonus. The correct way to do jobs on Upwork is to either use the time tracker (for hourly jobs), or ensure that your payment is in escrow (for fixed price jobs). Upwork cannot help you recover money from a client if you arranged to be paid via bonus.
What sort of jobs were these, and how much money were you promised?
