I started an hourly contract and I have worked for over 12 hours. Now I have been informed that the contract is suspended as Upwork is carrying out an investigation. So what will happen to the 12 hours worked? Will I be paid?

Hi there,
There are two reasons why your contract may be paused:
You can check out this help article to learn some tips on what you can do if your contract is paused.

If Upwork "suspended" your contract the most likely reason may be that there is a problem with her payment method. That can be fixed pretty quickly, if she fixes it quickly.
But if there is a different cause, suspension can last a few days, weeks - or forever.
Notify your customer of the suspension - she should already know - and assure her you'll get back to work as soon as Upwork un-suspends the contract. But not sooner unless you're happy to work for free.

That is likely due to a problem with your client's payment method.
Din't resume work until Upwork lifts the suspension.

Hi! I have a client, he wants to resume job. But I see that his account is paused and it is written "We are investigating a problem with X ’s account. Please do not resume work until the contract is active again. Learn more" What should I do? I can't contact UpWork Support team in any way, so maybe I'll get some help here.

I'm having the same issue with my client. On his end everything looks fine, the contract is showing active, but it is paused on my end and I can't track time. Does anyone know how to get in touch with human chat support, not the chat that provides generic answers from the knowledge base?

There's no point in contacting support because they won't share information about what the problem is. Your client will have to resolve it and you'll just have to be patient. Don't do any work until Upwork says that it's okay to go ahead, or you won't get paid.

There isn't anything that you can do - your client needs to fix the problem, not you.

I informed my client to resolve this issue, and he said that he updated all the things they needed but still, our contract has been suspended for the last 2 and half months.

My client was not fraudulent. They made a mistake with the wrong credit card and immediately upwork pause the contract. This is a very nice firm. They weren't doing anything fraudulently they would like to unpause the contract but they are having problems and don't know where to turn. I don't believe up work has a live customer service number anymore or even an email so I can direct to the client. Please help at your earliest possible convenience. Thank you.

Hi Michael,

Hi There,
I have an hourly contract with a minimum of $300/week as a retainer. The retainer amount was agreed by both parties, not a mistake. However, after over one month of work, we needed to take a pause and I insisted the client pause the contract.
Normally I see the weekly retainer for the last completed week to be funded in my balance every Saturday. Our contract was paused last Saturday which means the previous completed week of Monday to Friday retainer payment was supposed to be available this Saturday today. To specify the week of 18th to 22nd March is the payment I'm talking about that has not been received.
I always used to see the transaction history with the date on my "Pending Transactions" page, but this previous week's payment was not shown! Since the contract paused on Saturday the 23rd, I believe I should receive the retainer for the week of 18th to the 22nd.
Why I'm saying that? When the contract started, it was Friday, and I received that 1 day's worth of retainer of $60 for that week even.
Any kind of info and help is highly appreciated!

Hi Upwork community. I am facing a problem. I want to contact Upwork regarding a client pausing the contract after receiving the work and being unresponsive for a few days. What should I do.
Apr 15, 2024 10:26:07 AM by Mykola A
Nothing. Continue works after unpaused. Client able to pause contract anytime he want.
Time tracked before pause will be paid.

Okay so this means the hours logged will be paid for even if the contract is paused?
