Hi all,
I'm just curious...
After working with a client for over ten years, I was let go this past Friday. I knew things were changing, so I figured that maybe my services would no longer be needed. I just wanted to know when. But when I would ask for clarity regarding my position, I could never get a straight answer.
When I was let go on Friday, it was the company's new accountant who informed me. During our brief conversation, she told me that if I wanted to, I could take until the 15th to finish up whatever tasks I was working on. About an hour later, however, the company revoked my email and account access. This action prompted me to take a closer look at the termination agreement, which stated that the last day would be June 15.
I suppose my question is, is it common to terminate a contractor before a stated termination date?
Also, per the agreement, I am supposed to "transition all necessary information and date to the Company's contacts." Could someone please advise on how I should complete this task?
Thanks,
Giselle

My concern is that I didn't upload a few tax-related files to their filing system. I don't want to be on the hook if this information isn't available to them.
Well if they cut you out of the system, then you can't do it. They will either message you or they will figure it out. Not worth worrying about. Balls in their court.

welcome to contracting
They closed the contract so I wouldn't do anything more for them but it sounds like they don't want you to anyway if they killed your account access.
