Contract cancellation

After the interview client offered me contract for a fixed price job and I accepted that. After finishing 90% of the job suddenly client tell me that some other freelancer already did the job so s/he wants to hire the freelancer instead of me. What should I do in this situation? What is upworks standard policy for these kinds of situations? I told the client to contact support.

As long as you had a contract in place, I believe your client has to pay you for the majority of the work you've done.

See this link: https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211068208-Escrow-for-Fixed-Price-Jobs#:~:text=Escrow%20...

The money should be in escrow which is a neutral holding place. And it should be protected, so if you do the work, you still get the money.

See the section titled: Qualifying for Fixed-Price Protection

I think you should contact UpWork customer support and explain your situation as well. Hope this helps!

Hi Shiyam,

The client has the option to release a partial payment for you since you have already started working on the project. You may politely discuss this with your client. Thank you.
