Hello dear colleagues,
I need an advice.
Am working on a project fixed-price, split in milestones. Just delivered for second milestone and after an hour got an email from upwork that this contract is on hold.
Does anybody has an experience with something like this?
What could be the issue?
One of the reasons I want to know, is because the deadlines are very tight and I don't even know how long is going to take.
Maybe the support team could give me a hint, I don't know.
Thank you in advance,
Polina

Typically this happens either because there was a problem with the client's payment method OR Upwork flagged it for fraud.

As Tim says, a contract is usually put on hold because of an issue with the clients payment method. Could be as simple as updating a new expiration date or something more serious. The only thing you can do at this point is to get in touch with your client and find out what the problem is. If the client doesn't respond to your messages, then it's probably more serious. Until this is straighten out do NOT do any more work unless you get the ok from Upwork. Don't rely on the client saying things are fixed, keep working.
