I already contacted support but support is not really being helpful by just responding with canned messages and repeating the obvious. So much for a supposed premium support for a top-rated freelancer.
Today, my payment from one of my long-term contracts has been withheld because of a billing issue on my client's end (confirmed from client it hasn't been topped up in time). Then later, our contract was also paused.
My client is away on a honeymoon with no access to laptop hence she is not able to login to Upwork. She will only be back after 2 weeks. I've messaged her after the contract was paused and she confirmed her credit card has been topped up already.
Support wanted the client to reach out herself to reactivate the contract. Is this only the possible way? Does this mean I will only get paid and continue to work when my client is back? This is frustrating as I brought this specific client to Upwork. Had I known issues like this would take time to resolve I would have not brought her to Upwork.
Also, why does the notification say "[Client name] paused the contract." No my client did not. She messaged me she did not do it.

If it says Client paused, it means Client paused it, whatever your Client says. You need to communicate with herm it is obviously on her end.

No, client did not pause it. Upwork Support even acknowledged it was automatically done by the system because there was an issue with the payment. I just don't understand why would the notification says the client paused it when it's done by the system due to a payment error.

****UPDATE: Posting an update for those who might need it in the future
Exactly 24 hours after my contract was paused, my contract was restarted. Notification I got "[Name] of [Client Name] has restarted your contract. "
So in essence, once your client missed the payment and your contract is paused, even after the payment is sorted immediately, it would take 24 hours for the contract to be restarted automatically if the client cannot login to Upwork to sort it manually (my client only topped up her cc, wasn't able to log-in to Upwork).
