Contract service fee

I received an offer on a bid for $2,000, but it is showing a service fee of 12.5%.  Shouldn't this be 10% given the dollar amount?

Thanks,

Kristie

Hi Kristine,

Mykola's correct! As a freelancer, you’ll pay a sliding freelancer service fee based on your total lifetime billings with a client for earnings prior to May 3, 2023. We count all your contracts with a client –– whether hourly, fixed-price, or a Project Catalog project. (There are a few exceptions, see here).

Here’s how it works:

  • $0-$500 in earnings from a client: 20% freelancer service fee applied to earnings
  • $500.01-$10,000 in earnings from a client: 10% freelancer service fee
  • $10,000.01 or more in earnings from a client: 5% freelancer service fee

Feel free to check this help article for you to be more acquainted with how service fee works.

No. 20% from first 500. Then 10 from 1500.
