After you use the "Submit Work / Request Payment" button, Upwork will release all of the escrow money to you AUTOMATICALLY (14 days after you submit).

Don't end the contract yet.

Wait until after you have been paid.

If YOU end the contract when money has not yet been released, then you must refund the escrow money to the client.

If you just wait for 14 days after you submitted, then you will receive your money. (Or the client will release it sooner.)

Don't message the client. He already received a message that was generated by Upwork when you clicked the Submit Work button.
