Dealt with a very strange client

I dealt with a very strange client today, and while I can't go into details about the project due to privacy reasons, they made me feel really, really uncomfortable because they did not want to pay me...instead they wanted me to enter into a publishing agreement with them. It ended up not working out obviously, but this is the second strange person that I have dealt with. Is this normal, does this happen?

Yes, it happens. The more clients you deal with, the more finely tuned your "BS-Client detector" becomes and you start to weed them out with minimal time wasted.
