Hi there, folks
So, I want to cancel the job I'm working right now, two of four milestones down, 50 in escrow, but the full work has been submitted with a slew of revisions now needed. Which is quite alright, the client and I just have very different styles. She would need me to write in her style and omit a fair bit that I just don't have the heart to. It's a good story, and already I'm seeing a lot of other clients who would take it.
However, I want to be fair here. It's an unfortunate thing but it is what it is. I'd like to refund the client the money in escrow and end things on friendly terms. We just didn't mesh, that's okay, I think.
Now, I'm hearing a lot about JSS, and how it affects things. Would something like this affect JSS?
So, in a nutshell, want to cancel, refund, my client, keep my work, and not harm my JSS. Is this doable?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this
Warm Regards
Sam

@Tamara H wrote:Job Success Score (JSS) is likely to be affected from no feedback left after the contract is ended. However, this will not affect your JSS if it is the only one with no feedback, but if you have more this is going to affect your JSS for sure in that case.
Tamara, contracts with no earnings (!!) and no feedback or poor feedback significantly hurt the JSS.
And with only 2 contracts this one will represent 50% of his entire body of work.

Probably. Contracts that end without payment and without feedback hurt your JSS and with poor (private) feedback will always hurt.
You already have one contract that didn't go 100% great, another would mean that when you get your JSS it will likely be low.

A clear answer and what I was afraid of. It's early days and technically half of what I have so far.
Feel between a rock and a hard place. I'm going to have to dumb things down alot, and having this job go past seven days for roughly 120 euro in the end feels so counterintuitive; I'm already finding better paid jobs that are definitely more suited to my style.
But that's the point, right? Client comes first.
Thank you so much for your replies, blown away by how quick the response is. Whenever I need help, I get it straight away. I really appreciate that.
Regards
Sam

Sam, you need to pick your clients more carefully.
The " a Cent or less a word" crowd are generally a pain to work with and the most picky.
I proofread for twice - 3 times that.
