Hi community members,
Before the number of connects to apply for a job used to be around 4 or 8.
But now in August actually I see many jobs showing up where you need 16 connects to apply.
Is this correct or is this related to my own profile somehow?
For example, I turned off my Availability badge since I am not urgently seeking a mission and this saves me connects.
But I was wondering, does putting it off influence how many connects are needed in the end to apply for jobs? Anyways, my understanding of this system is not optimal since I do not understand what determines in the end the number of connects for a job.
Thank you for very much in advance for your kind help!

I noticed this too, and I think it applies across the board. I assume it reflects a recent change in Upwork's policies (to charge more to apply to jobs), but I'm not sure whether they formally announced anything along those lines. Perhaps someone else will know, one way or the otherโฆ

Upwork increased the number of connects required to apply for jobs - it's got nothing to do with your availability badge.

This is unrelated to any specific profile and is across the Upwork marketplace. It started back in June and has been discussed extensively ever since.
Moderator Andrea G made an announcement in a thread that is now closed.
