Direct Contracts - Escrow not right

I am sorry but the Upwork claim, on the Direct Contracts page, about Upwork holding the client's money in Escrow until you finish the job, then releasing the money to you, is not true.

I worked on a contract with a client who paid into Escrow. When I finished the contract, the client decided he did not want to pay. Both the client and Upwork delayed the release of funds, with the dispute, long enough for him to be able to withdraw the money from Escrow.

Upwork did not pay me, they just said to me: "tough, sorry mate" (not with those words).
I have been telling the clients that I only work on an hourly rate since then.
