Hi, I got invited for a job . I submitted the work and my client requested a refund for no reason and when I asked him on the call then he said that I can file a dispute against him and he knows someone who is at higher position at Upwork (I know he was faking). Then I filed a dispute against him and now he is not replying to the dispute. I read an article at Upwork that client has to reply within 5 business days to get a refund . I filed the dispute on 14-09-2020 and I'm curious to know that Will I get the money by 19-09-2020 If the client willn't respond. Or Upwork willn't count these 2 days (18 Sep and 19 Sep) as it Saturday and Sunday. I'm looking forward for your guidance!
Best Regards,
Sharwan Kumar Upadhyay

You were asked to provide proof of the completed project by a timeline, so obviously (!!!) you will have to provide the proof as requested by the deadline.
The deadline has been given to you, so how about you forget about wondering "why" the date is what it is, and instead provide what you are asked to provide and then wait?

weekends do not count as business days and Upwork generally give clients more time to respond before they close the dispute in the other party's favour.
I would quietly wait and not draw any attention to the dispute, in the hope that the client stays gone and that it then gets closed because of non-response.
I would also report that threat (with proof) regarding "knowing someone in Upwork management) to Upwork. That sort of behaviour is unacceptable.

Did you send what you were asked to send? (proof that the project was completed?)
If so, just patiently wait.
If not, obviously do so urgently or YOU would be the one who hasn't complied.

Hi Petra, yesterday I gave everything that I was asked for and now 5 days are completed. There's no response from the dispute team and the client. According to the support article client have to respond within 5 business days. Can Upwork dispute team give a second chance to client to respond ?

You don't know if the client responded privately to the mediator and it is the weekend. It is also "business days", which have not yet passed.

Yes, they do that frequently.

As I said, you can't even know whether the client responded privately or not. You have done your part, now simply wait until you are notified of any developments.

Petra can you please tell me what is "Freelancer Private Conversation" in the dispute page ? Does it mean that only me and the dispute specialist will be able to see that conversation and the client can't see it ?

Yes. And the client has the same.
