Hi,
I have a question about disputes:
Have anyone go through such when the conversation with the client was in different language than English? Does Upwork have a translation solution for that cases?
For example I am a Bulgarian and my client is also a Bulgarian, so we discussed the project in our native language.
After I did the job the way we both agreed he refused to pay, so now I want to file a dispute.
All the conversation was in Upwork messages, so I want to use it as proof that he is not right. Would it be a problem that all messages need to be translated or...? And if the Upwork dispute specialists don't use a translator in such cases is it worth to file a dispute?
I am not sure how to proceed in this case. Please help or share your opinion.

If necessary, the team can review communication between the client and the freelancer in a language other than English.

Maybe he's right.
Have you tried this:

I'm sorry that you feel the work I did was not a good match for your project. I understand that you would prefer to not use the work. But as a matter of policy, I ask for at least partial payment for work that I do. If you would be willing to release 50% of the payment, then I would accept that as a final settlement. Given the amount of work I did on the project, I would not be able to agree to a full refund. If you asked for a full refund, I would need to dispute that request and ask Upwork to assign the full amount of the payment to me."

My question is not how to get part of the money and believe me he is not right at all, but that's other story.
I am asking about the dispute part and the translation of our Bulgarian conversation.
Does anyone knows if Upwork do that or a conversation could be used only if it is in English?

The first question should be if it is worth the hassle.
If you dispute there will be a 3 way conversation with a mediation specialist, but that can NOT lead to a legally binding decision if a way forward can not be arrived at.
Should that stage fail, it would hve to go to mediation, which costs you, the client, and Upwork $ 291 (which you don't get back regardless of who wins)
So it is entirely sensible to ascertain whether it's actually worth it.

Yep, Petra, I red the dispute rules few times. Still I think it's worth the try. This marketplace has no place for such unethical behaviour.
